
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco (American professional soccer player) plays as a striker. She is also captain of the San Diego Wave FC of National Women's Soccer League, the highest division in professional women's soccer. From 2018 until 2020, she co-captained the American women's national soccer team along with Megan Rappinoe. [8][9] Shortly after graduating in the early years of the University of California, Berkeley where she was a player with the California Golden Bears, Morgan was picked as the first overall selection in the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. Morgan made her debut as a professional there and was integral in the team's winning the league title. Morgan was just 22 at the time was the youngest athlete in the national squad at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, where the team finished as runners-up. In the 123rd minutes of the semifinal match against Canada at the 2012 London Olympics she scored the match-winning goals. Her 2012 ended with 21 goals and 28 assists, and Mia Hamm was the only American woman to score both 20 and 20 goals. This made her the sixth-youngest U.S. player ever to achieve 20 goals in one season. She was awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year, and was a FIFA World Player of the The Year finalist. Morgan has also played a role in helping the United States win their titles in the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, in which she was selected to the Dream Team for both tournaments and also won the Silver Boot in 2019.
